Foxconn beats Apple, unveils a smartwatch compatible with the iPhone
Seems like Sony’s recently unveiled SmartWatch 2 SW2, isn’t the only new wearable device in the market. Hon Hai (or Foxconn), the biggest manufacturer of Apple’s iPhones and iPads has unveiled its own version of a smartwatch that can be wirelessly connected to an iPhone, WantChinaTimes reports.
The wearable device is quite simple in its functionality and in addition to time, it also displays incoming and missed phone calls, messages and Facebook updates among others. Additionally, the device also keeps track of and displays the user’s vital signs like respiration and heartbeats.
While unveiling the device Hon Hai chairman Terry Gou said, “With such a device, you can keep your phone in your pocket and simply check all kinds of messages on your watch.” He also revealed the company’s plans to introduce newer features on the watch like biometric identification in the near future. Hon Hain didn’t announce a name or release date for its new smartwatch, but given that the product was shown at the shareholder’s meeting would mean that an unveiling shouldn’t be far off.
Interestingly, Hon Hai isn’t the only company which has developed an iPhone-compatible smartwatch as Apple too is believed to be developing its own iWatch, which is expected to be revealed sometime later this year.

A few days after Huawei MediaPad 10 was spotted for on pre-orders on an Indian e-commerce portal, the company has launched the Android-based 10.1-inch tablet in India.
The tablet has a 10.1-inch IPS display with 1280×800 pixels resolution, and it runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It is powered by a quad-core Hi-Silicon K3V2 Cortex-A9 processor ticking at 1.2GHz and offers 1GB of RAM. The tablet sports a 3-megapixel camera on the rear and a VGA camera on the front, and offers 16GB of internal memory supplemented with a 32GB expandable memory using a microSD. Additionally the tablet supports full HD video playback, comes with Dolby Surround Sound technology used for better audio quality and houses a 6,600mAh battery which the company claims to deliver up to 6-hours for gaming or 8-hours of video playback.
It is priced for Rs 24,990 and will be available through online channels and other retail stores.
The tablet is priced a bit on the higher side, considering that there are a lot of domestic as well as big players offering tablets with similar specifications for below Rs 20,000. However, we will only be able to comment on the performance bit once we review the tablet.

The Q10 is similar to the Bold 9900 in shape & size, but has a larger 3.1-inch super amoled touchscreen and improved keypad. The four-row keypad now has larger keys, a wider layout and feels more comfortable to type on. The display is fantastic but the 1:1 (square) aspect ratio sometimes ruins the video experience. Since most videos are 16:9, they run in a smaller frame on the phone. Performance is great — games and HD videos ran without any hitch even with multiple email and social networking accounts running in the background. It also shares the rear 8MP and front 2MP camera with the Z10. Like the Z10, the performance from the camera is fantastic — you get rich colours, sharp details and minimal noise.
The Q10 has a 2,100mAh battery that easily lasted us over a day and half — impressive for a BlackBerry device. For those who love physical QWERTY keypads, the Q10 is the ultimate device.
However at Rs 44,990 (850 USD), it's also insanely expensive. Because of the price, the Q10 has very stiff competition: the HTC One, Samsung's Galaxy S4 and the Apple iPhone 5.

While the US store lists the price at $229, there has not been any official announcement about its price in India. However, people familiar with the matter, have confirmed to BGR India that it has been priced at an MRP of Rs 17,800. While it does sound pretty expensive, considering $229 should have meant a price under Rs 15,000, Apple has typically priced iPod touch models on the higher side in India. The $299 iPod touch 32GB for instance is priced at Rs 23,900 in India.
Sources have also confirmed that the iPod touch 16GB variant is likely to be available in the next fortnight or so. On the features front, it features the same 4-inch Retina Display like other variants in the fifth-generation iPod touch as well as an A5 dual-core processor. However, Apple has removed the rear iSight camera though there is a front-facing camera to make FaceTime calls. It can shoot videos in 720p and click pictures at 1.2-megapixel resolution.
